Similarities
The ways Motion Tweens and Shape Tweens are similar, is that they can move, can be set up in objects, change colors in the end, color changes, use ease, can change size, both need frames in the timeline to work, if not enough frames are used the motion will be a bit jerky, can copy their tweens for further usage, and they are located in the Insert Menu on the menu bar.
Differences
The differences between Motions Tween and Shape tween are they have different coloring when applied into the Timeline, both have different functions, Shape tween morphs while Motion Tween moves the object, have different lettering, and Shape Tweens can only work if the objects were broken apart.
